What is BOI?
BOI is information about the people who directly or indirectly own or control a business. This includes their full legal name, date of birth, current address, and ID numbers. BOI reporting is a law created under the Corporate Transparency Act to help prevent money-laundering and tax evasion.
When to Report BOI:
As of December 26th, 2024 filing is voluntary, Following the recent court rulings we recommend that you have the necessary documents ready in case the recent ruling on December 26th is overturned.
How to File:
Electronically through a secure filing system available via FinCEN’s BOI E-Filing website (https://boiefiling.fincen.gov)
Is there a fee?
No. Filing on the FinCen website is free. If you have your accountant, bookkeeper or tax preparer file for you then they will probably charge a fee.
